This year for Christmas I made up my mind that I would make these scrapbooks for each of our 4 grown children. I put pictures and things from birth through their high school graduations. Well I didn't decide I would do this until October. I do challenge myself! It was hard work but I think I was more excited about giving these Christmas presents than any I can remember. It was really special to see them enjoy those albums and laugh about some of the pictures. In those pages were many wonderful moments in time that made up a lifetime of memories not just for them but for me and my husband. Memories that are so fun to remember that they are like little gifts when we recall them.
When we think of special times at Christmas, it is the people that were there that made it special not so much what we received. If we had a room full of presents and no one around it would be a sad memory instead of a happy one. For me, the act of giving is so much more fun than receiving. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy and appreciate all the gifts I received but I take great fulfillment in giving.
The greatest gift ever given to mankind was born on Christmas.
Luke 2:10-11 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you ; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
There are a few key words in those two sentences; Great Joy, All The People, and Savior. As I end this blog I hope that you will reflect on those three words this coming year. These words give us the reason God came to earth in human form.
I pray that your new year will be filled with a longing to put Christ first in your life so that you may find the joy and peace you have been looking for all your life. There is no greater gift you could give yourself or your family.
Happy New Year
