I love summer mornings. It's beautiful and cool and there is a sweet morning dew like smell in the air as the sun comes up and the birds sings their good morning songs to me. I like to get a cup of tea and sit out side for a while. In the quiet, it's so easy to review all the beauty God made and I am thankful for another day. It's a great time to connect with God and start out my day being thankful instead of frustrated and stressed out thinking about what all I need to accomplish. When I let God in, then the day goes so much better than when I take the whole day's schedule on by myself.
We all have the opportunity for a better existence, a calmer, happier life. You ask how? By simply letting God into your life. He is always there but He does not push His way in.. We must want the relationship with Him.
My life got so much better when I started reading the Bible everyday in the mornings and taking that time to pray and meditate. It is a simple and beautiful thing, not complicated. I take 15 minutes or more with God and He rewards me in so many ways. God fills that deep down place that was created for Him that we cannot fill with any other human, object, activity or career. When we begin to fill it with God, then we become satisfied, strengthened and capable. We find that it is easy to be thankful and enjoy simple things like beautiful summer mornings. Our outlook on life becomes brighter and we are a much better participant in our relationships with other people.
This all reminds me of the saying, if Momma's not happy then nobody's happy! Well I have noticed that works with Dad's too but whatever! Anyway my point is, when I am happy and content then people around me will have a better chance for being happy too. We do have a positive or negative affect on people and with God we have the ability to be positive.
One of my favorite songs from the 70's is "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens it is beautiful and I love the words. I got the history on the song which I think is pretty interesting.
Stevens got the lyrics from a hymn book he found at a bookstore while looking for song ideas. It was a children's hymn by Eleanor Farjeon, who also wrote a lot of children's poetry. Stevens explained on The Chris Isaak Hour: "I accidentally fell upon the song when I was going through a slightly dry period and I needed another song or two for Teaser And The Firecat. I came across this hymn book, found this one song, and thought, This is good. I put the chords to it and then it started becoming associated with me." songfacts.com
Morning Has Broken
Morning has broken, like the first morning, blackbirds has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning, praise for the springing fresh from the world.
Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven, like the first dewfall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden, sprung in completeness where his feet pass
Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning, born of the one light, eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning, God's recreation of the new day.
I also love this verse from Psalms 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
Like I said, we must desire God's presence. We must request and participate in it then we can receive His unfailing love and joy. Life is hard and sometimes horrible, why not try something different? Why not try God.
Lord I pray that whoever reads my blog will become interested in finding a relationship with you through your son, Jesus Christ. I pray that they will have many beautiful summer, fall, winter and spring mornings in your presence as they make it through life on earth until we meet in eternity with you. In Jesus Name, Amen
