Last week there were two issues that passed in our state election that were very concerning to many of us. We fought the good fight against them but they passed anyway, so what now?
As I was praying, the Lord reminded me of what I should be praying about, not whether we have laws for or against these things, but to pray for the mind, heart and spirit of men, women and children. Laws cannot and will not make a difference in the condition of their souls, only God can. Laws may hinder their ability to do or get involved in things that can ruin their lives and the lives of others, but only God through Jesus Christ can change and save them, therefore saving the future of our state and nation. So instead of praying for governmental issues only, pray for the hearts, minds, and spirits of leaders and elected officials.
Author Sarah Young once wrote in her devotional, Jesus Calling, “When a future-oriented worry assails you, capture it and disarm it by suffusing the Light of My Presence (Jesus Presence) into that mental image.” The word suffuse means to gradually spread through or over. So, we need to gradually allow the light and love of Jesus to repaint our mental images and fears to totally cover our thinking and our actions. I believe that is what the Lord was doing when I prayed. He was showing me that the light of His presence is what’s needed in me and in the hearts of people because no law can do what God can.
Seems like when I was a child and then later as a young adult, things were pretty good. Yes, there was evil but society seemed pretty normal and moral on the whole. I know it wasn’t always but compared to today, there is a huge difference. Our children and grandchildren are thrown into things we could have never imagined back then. I feel their innocent, carefree childhoods and peace are being taken from them. These are the things that way heavy on our minds. Sarah Young also wrote from the same book, “Gently nudge your mind back to Me (meaning Jesus). Every moment is precious if you keep your focus on Me. Any day can be a good day, because My Presence permeates all time.”
1 Peter 5:8-11 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of suffering. And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
The truth: Not only non-believers are capable of choosing the wrong path, we that believe can chose to distance ourselves from the Lord by walking into a pit of despair and hopelessness because of the times we live in. The Bible verse says to be self-controlled and alert. Know this, for whether we do unthinkable things or only turn to despair, Satan is seeking to devour us, ruin us so we are unable to pray, comfort, and help others in difficult times. Also know this, Satan most definitely does not want us to walk by faith and enjoy the life God has given us.
The bottom line again comes out the same as some of my other blogs. We choose. We choose whether we pray for others and be there to help them pick up the broken pieces of their lives or sit at home and complain and live in despair. We choose. Let’s choose to actually live a meaningful life no matter what is happening around us.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer
Lord, help us reshuffle our minds to what we CAN do. As in the song, We Believe For it, by CeCe Winans, it says: “They say this mountain can’t be moved, they say these chains will never break but they don’t know You like we do, there is power in Your name. Move the immovable, break the unbreakable, God we believe for it. From the impossible, we’ll see a miracle, God, we believe for it. God, we believe for it.” Yes, Lord we do believe for it and we trust in you no matter what we see with our eyes. We know you are at work and that you are calling us to work along side you to pick up the pieces of this broken world and make a positive, eternal difference until you come again. Thank you for Your presence and Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
God Bless
Sincerely,
Sally
Sally, once again you’ve reminded me what should be the imperative prayer. It’s so easy to lose sight because of the world. Thank you for your God given gift of clarity in a world of chaos.
Nailed it! Great truth. Thank you Sally!
It’s easy as believers today to feel like we are drifting aimlessly, because of the evil undercurrent in the world.
But Jesus is greater than the enemy and the chaotic times in which we live.
We MUST stay FOCUSED on Him, and anchor ourselves to Christ. We cannot drift from the TRUTH. We need to stay prayed up, and suited for battle, each and every day!
God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. And this is where our hope lies.
Thanks again! 🙏🙏🙏
