Be Ready For Any Task

I have found that over the years, it has been very beneficial to keep multiple items available in different places in my house and on my property.  By doing so, I can tackle any task much easier and save a lot of time.    Example:

Scissors

Extra Teaspoons/tablespoons and measuring cups to put in loose tea’s, coffees and baking supplies.

Garden hand shovels

Hand pruners

Kleenex

Hand lotions

Pens and paper

Reading glasses

Bibles and devotionals

Some people think this is silly, but I have found it to be a blessing.  For instance, my property has nothing but hills.  It’s beautiful, but it can be a challenge to mow, and it requires a lot of up hill walking to the garage to get the things I need to use in my gardens. Especially since I moved here, I keep a few basics, especially hand shovels, in each garden spot.

When we think of it, it is important to be ready for anything.  I keep a bible by my bed and one in my office area.  One I use in the morning and one at night.  I keep paper and a pen in several places around the house ready to jot down lists, or even thoughts.  Very often I know the Lord will give me ideas or directives because they come out of the blue and they are beneficial and biblical.  I need to pay attention and write them down.  Many of them end up in one of my blogs or books.

Now we have everything in place, we get up but we are easily distracted.  I’ll write about distractions next week.  Yes, it is important to be ready for every task, but it’s just as important to make a plan.  Making a plan is the second part of being ready for any task.

“By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail.”  Benjamin Franklin

“If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.”  Zig Zigler

It’s very important to be prepared not just in the physical part of life, but also the spiritual part.  Pretty often, unless no one knows you are a Christian, you may need to respond to someone’s request or question.

In 1 Peter 3:15-16 NLT Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life.  And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. 16. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.

One task I believe Christians need to tackle is to write out their faith statement.  This is an answer we are able to quickly give about the faith we have in Jesus.  This may include, why we believe and, what we believe.  Maybe a testimony as well.

This faith statement can explain the hope and love of Jesus Christ to our children and grandchildren or anyone that asks.  This may be the most important but least accomplished task of all. Why? Priority, distraction, and spiritual struggle. Something to think about.  If our families don’t hear about the Lord from us, they may not perceive it to be important, and we all know, the the world will teach them something else. Do we care about their eternal future?

So, whether it’s in our physical existence or our spiritual walk, being prepared will always serve us very well. It will relieve frustration and anxiety, and benefit ourselves and others in the long run.

Prayer

Lord, help us prepare ourselves for any task that comes.  May we mentally, physically and spiritually be ready to accomplish so much in this world.  May we be doers and not just hearers.  Help us to rely on you for the strength and guidance to do many things.  We thank you Lord for the gifts, abilities and faith you give us.  May we tackle every situation with you by our side.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Bless

Sally
