When I was five, I did not attend kindergarten because we did not have it in our school district. So, when I was six, I started first grade. There was a girl that sat in front of me in class. She had a long pony tail and when I didn’t understand what the teacher wanted us to do, or I had a question, I would pull on her pony tail. Needless to say, that annoyed her to pieces and I had to stop. It took a while for us to become friends! Wonder why! LOL
Well, all these years later I can honestly say I quit pulling hair. I have grown up and become better in the fine art of making friends. Praise the Lord! The friends I have made, have been such a blessing to me. My friends have surrounded me with such love, joy and support. I am blessed beyond measure.
With ministries like my church, Emmaus and Revive Ohio to name a few, I have made even more precious friendships. I love these brothers and sisters in Christ, they are amazing.
I just have to say it! It really pays to quit pulling ponytails! In other words, it pays to stop being self-absorbed, argumentative, demanding and impatient. As a child, I wanted answers right now. I didn’t care about the girl’s pain, I wanted answers! Over the years, the Lord has been teaching me the fine art of patience, listening, loving, caring and sharing.
In order to make really good friends, I have learned that a person has to be willing to step out in faith. In others words, get involved in groups and introduce yourself. Show you really care about others by asking them questions about their family and life. Standing around only talking about yourself rarely gets you an honest to goodness true and lasting friend.
One of my greatest joys is sharing about the Lord and praying with other believers. When that takes place, there seems to be a heavenly power of love that flows from the throne of God through each person, knitting those friendships together. If you want a little heaven on earth, there is one place you can find it; in the fellowship of real unpretentious people who make Jesus Lord of their life and know the fine art of forgiveness.
Philippians 1:3 I thank my God every time I remember you.
Prayer
Lord, I can’t thank you enough for all the people you have brought into my life. I am truly blessed! I thank you for molding me a little bit more every day into a better vessel. I know that the mistakes I have made can help me understand more about life and myself. Please continue to do your good work in me Lord, and again forgive me when I have failed you. May I be a catalyst of joy and your love to someone every day. Forgive me when I get too wrapped up in my own situations to see others through your eyes. Thank you, Lord, for the wonderful blessing of friendship and love.
In Jesus name, amen
God Bless,
Sincerely
Sally
