How often do we consider five minutes here or ten minutes there to be a worthless amount of time? This is so-far-from-the-truth!
In the physical realm, in five to ten minutes a person could pick up clothes, tidy up a room, wipe off counters, unload the dishwasher, sign a note or greeting card and take it to the mail box. They could also, text a friend or family member, do a few exercises, plan dinner, write a to-do list or grocery list and put clothes in the washer or dryer.
In the spirit realm, five to ten minutes has the power to change situations, calm atmospheres, protect someone or yourself, heal someone, reveal things and start your day out right. How? A few minutes of prayer changes everything. A five-to-ten-minute devotional with scripture, has the power to change your attitude and how your day may go. Five to ten minutes to talk or pray with someone may save a life or change their day. Five minutes to encourage your children, spouse or friends and tell them you love them, fills and refills their emotional and mental tank enabling them to do their best and show love to someone else. Five to ten minutes of all these things moves God’s positive energy and love forward in this world.
Did you know; each day is made of 1440 minutes and around 8 hours or 480 minutes are for sleeping. So, basically a person has roughly 192- five minutes opportunities and 96-ten minutes opportunities to accomplish something worthwhile, especially for the kingdom of God. What does Ephesians say? Ephesians 5:16 NLT Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.
One thing I have heard people say is, “I wish I had just 5 more minutes with ____” (their deceased loved one). When they say that, it always strikes me that they feel that it would only take five precious minutes to bring about incredible joy and a deep heart connection. Look around, who needs a love fill up. Who needs to know they are loved by God? What can you do today in five precious minutes?
James 4:14 NLT How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.
So how can you use your minutes wisely? The first thing to do is to understand that you don’t need an hour of time to accomplish much in the physical realm or the spiritual realm. I challenge you to think about your 192 daily opportunities. Even if you only use a third of them, that’s still 64 chances to make an impact.
They say, time flies, I say grab its tail and fly with it!
Prayer
Lord, help us seize every opportunity for the days are unpredictable and fleeting. Lord give us a swift kick in the keister to get us going when we get lazy! We will have plenty of time to rest when our bodies are, as John Wayne once said, “Pushing up daisies!” Yes, our bodies will be taking a dirt nap while we will be resting in your presence with some of those wonderful five-minute-opportunity-beneficiaries. Oh, what a day! Lord there is so much joy living in your presence by grace. I am free to be me while allowing you to work through me into others lives. How Awesome! Thank you, Lord, you are a good, good Father and I am and feel so loved by you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
God Bless
Sally
