In these last two blogs, I’m going to present my readers with some challenging things to think about. So here goes. The most powerful word/name in all eternity is, Jesus. So, the most powerful thing we can do is to speak it and pray it.
Philippians 2:9-11 NLT Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
There will be times in our lives when our backs are up against a wall, (metaphorically). That is when we will need the power that is in the name of Jesus. In His name, we can send the enemy of our soul packing, open and close doors of opportunity or temptation, bring about change, and begin to heal our mind, body and spirit.
There’s another side of using the name of Jesus and I feel pressed to bring it forward. It would be the daily, ever present, social use of using Jesus or God as a slang or cuss word. I know, like many of you, I too have fallen in the trap of using the OMG slang once in a while. The Lord has made me aware this. There is power in those names, and I believe this power could work for us or against us. We must consider what’s in our heart and why we feel compelled to use it in this manner. Are we really calling out to the Lord or cursing Him? Hey, I’m not anyone’s judge, just the messenger. I can only deal with my own faults and sins not anyone else’s, but It is a serious thing for us to consider. None of us know whether we have a tomorrow or not. It could be too late to ask for forgiveness.
Exodus 20:7 NLT You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse His name.
Matthew 12:36-37 NIV And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgement day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.
I have seen remarkable things shift in my life because I pray in the name of Jesus, but really, It’s all about how much I believe, trust and honor the Lord.
Whether we like it or not, we are running in a race. Some have referred to it as a rat-race! Nevertheless, it is the race of life. It is indeed like we are on a wheel running around in circles like a pet rat, but the difference is, we were created for an eternal purpose. It really is possible to live a life full of good and meaningful adventures that also glorify the Lord. So run your race my friends with power, perseverance, and purpose.
Isaiah 40:31 NLT But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
I Corinthians 9:26 NIV Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air.
Prayer
Lord, I thank you that your name, Jesus, has the power to transform our lives and our situations. Help us remember to use it with great care. May we honor you with our speech and our lives. Lord, I pray that anytime your name is used with care or in vain, that the person will immediately feel and be moved by the power of your Holy Spirit. May it be a tangible presence in our lives and in the world for your glory. Lord, give us faith if we are lacking. Give us strength and a desire to run this race with you by our side. We call upon the powerful name of Jesus for all our joys, concerns and sorrows. Thank you, Lord, In Jesus’ name, amen.
God Bless

Tremble by Mosaic MSC
Thank you for this post, Sally. I have been guilty of this and needed it brought to my attention so I can ask forgiveness. This reminds me I must do better! Why would I ever want to hurt or demean our Lord! Thank you for this important reminder. God bless you!!!
