Uniquely Wonderful

I often think back to when I was young and remember some of the things I thought about.  I remember around twelve years old, thinking that my nose was too big for my face.  It’s funny now because my nose now fits my face fine. What I didn’t realize then, was that I still had a lot of growing to do, physically, mentally and spiritually.

I believe and have experienced that to live the best life possible a few things have to happen:  1. We need the time to grow into the body and personality we were created to have.  2. We have to grow in God in order to be able to embrace and love what He created.

It takes a while for things to become what they were meant to be.  Here’s several examples: A sunflower is kind of awkward looking until it reaches it full height and the yellow petals come out into full bloom.  A new house doesn’t look like much until it’s finished.  A painting usually isn’t as beautiful until the artist finishes the last few strokes, and a book is an incomplete story until the author writes the last chapter.

We live in a world where everything is fast, but great things come in waiting and in being able to see them through.  We need time to develop into God’s best.  He doesn’t make junk; we humans deem things as junk and unacceptable.  He formed us to be perfected by Him into how He created us to be:  Our looks, personality, gifts, ambitions and even weaknesses. Uniquely Wonderful!  We were made to be humans that can find incredible joy in knowing Him and helping our fellow travelers in life.

Why are we letting the world dictate who we really are?  Why are we so impatient? Why are we so dissatisfied? Answer:  We are not living and growing in a relationship with God through His son Jesus Christ. The secret to a satisfying, enjoyable life, is to grow in God every day and to embrace the earthly vessel we have been given.

Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT) You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.  You saw me before I was born.  Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Prayer

Lord, I thank you and praise you for your creation.  Every flower, tree and animal show’s your creative work.  I thank you for my fellow travelers in life.  I enjoy each unique personality and talent that they possess. Lord, I thank you for creating me.  I am grateful that I am not exactly like anyone else. Help me to grow in love with you more every day.  Help me to embrace the vessel you have given me and Lord help me to take good care of it and use it for your glory.  In Jesus’ name, amen.

God Bless,

Sally
